NihonGo! is a free educational website. This page explains what data is and isn't collected. Plain summary first, then the details.

In short

We do not collect any personal information. There are no accounts, no logins, and no email signups. Anything you mark as a favorite is saved only in your own browser.

No accounts, no personal data

The site does not have user accounts. We do not ask for your name, email address, phone number, or any other identifying information. Nothing is sent to our servers about who you are.

Favorites are stored in your browser

When you tap the star icon to favorite a word, that information is saved in your browser's localStorage. It never leaves your device. Clearing your browser data will erase your favorites.

Cookies

The site does not set tracking cookies. The analytics we use (described below) are cookie-free, so no cookie-consent banner is needed.

Analytics

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand how many people visit and which pages are popular. It is privacy-first: it does not use cookies, does not fingerprint your device, and does not collect any personal or identifying information. Only aggregate, anonymous data — such as page views, referring sites, country, and browser type — is recorded. There is no way for us to identify an individual visitor.

Advertising

This site may, in the future, display ads served by third-party advertising networks (such as Google AdSense). When advertising is enabled, those networks may use cookies or similar technologies to show relevant ads and measure performance. This section, and a cookie-consent notice where required, will be updated before any advertising goes live. No ads or ad cookies are used at this time.

Third-party services

The site does not currently use third-party services that collect personal data. Outgoing links may take you to other sites with their own privacy policies; please review those separately.

Children

NihonGo! is suitable for learners of all ages and does not knowingly collect any data from children or adults.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the effective date at the top of the page will be updated. Please check back periodically.
